The Best Moment of Christmas!

A few days before Thanksgiving, my sister, Shelley, called to begin orchestrating what would become my favorite moment of Christmas.  She planned to fly from Denver to surprise our parents!  It was so hard to hide it from them, especially with my mom very emotional about not being able to spend the holiday with all of her kids.  Oh, if you only knew, Mom!

The plans were set, a car service was arranged to pick her up from the airport (at midnight!), and the surprise was ready (Mom and Dad thought they were coming over for lunch as part of our Advent activities).  And then we were reminded of Murphy's Law . . .

Hours before Shelley's flight, over a foot of snow dumped on Denver!  Tears, prayers, more tears, and more prayers . . . her flight some how took off and she arrived on our doorstep at 3:30am!  Praise God!

The pictures and video explain Mom & Dad's reaction much better than I could:

She was only here for 36 hours but we made the most of every second (well, admittedly, not when she first got here!  At 3:30am we both just collapsed!)!

Advent Part 2!

More fun Advent activities filled the last half of December!  We went Christmas caroling (Frankie rocks "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town"!), baked sugar cookies, saw a movie (yes, in the THEATER!), made chocolate ornaments, and watched a Christmas movie in our sleeping bags!  It all culminated with a magical Christmas and plans underway for Advent 2012!
