Alter egos

We've got quite the alter egos around here!

Lexi chose Eleanor Roosevelt as her History Maker for the 2nd grade Wax Museum.  She wrote a report, created a timeline, and was interviewed by 5th graders and parents about what she'd learned.  Grandma and Papa came to the program and even brought flowers!  She felt beautiful in her Eleanor costume (complete with borrowed skirt - thanks, Molly!) and said her favorite thing about Eleanor was the way she helped her husband when he was so sick.

Henry's alter ego, Gagoo, is giving us a "run for our money" these days!  Henry cried at bedtime tonight because, while Gagoo napped with Henry and apparently had planned to sleep with him at bed too, he changed his mind.  I'm not sure how one can be so disappointed with a fictional person!  We learned Gagoo's full name today, which is a good thing because he's "really poor and we need to send him some money for clothes and toys".  Henry and Gagoo share a middle name (coincidence!).  Maybe one day we'll all get to meet Gagoo William Henney-Punkin'-Pie!

Snow Days!

How do we spend two days snowed in the house with school canceled?

We play Jenga . . .

 We shovel . . .

We build Lego towers with neighbors . . .

We shovel . . .

We write our names with blocks . . .

We shovel . . .

We play in the snow . . .

We shovel . . .

We find huge snowballs . . .

And we shovel some more!  10 inches of snow fell in 5 hours on Thursday with another inch later that evening!  The driveway is finally clear but I imagine the grass will be covered until June!

Meet Henry

Ah, Henry . . .

"Thank you for this wonderful food.  Please let Levi not throw up again.  Amen."

Every night Henry's prayer is exactly the same.  Who is this Levi and why has he been throwing up for two months straight?!

Henry's a snuggler!  He loves for me to lie with him at nap and several times during the day sneaks in a quick hug!  He wears his emotions openly and shows his excitement with love!

Henry doesn't eat much but he never turns down "cockcorn" (popcorn) or "gold cheese" (grilled cheese).  He'd love for you to fix it for them then snuggle and read him a "mazzazine" (magazine)!

Gagoo has been Henry's imaginary friend for a few months now.  He's usually in the car right in front of us but never ends up where we're going.  Once we were both going to the library but he left just before we got there - DARN!  There's nothing Gagoo can't do and nowhere he hasn't been.

Parent-teacher Conferences + Weekend + President's Day = 5 days off school

watched a family movie.

   had three playdates.

      went to two birthday parties.

            played two board games.

               built a living room fort.

Today was the preschool valentine party and Henry got to participate even though Monday isn't typically his day!  They sang five songs and had a carnival!  Mamaw came to help the boys with games while I worked the Duck Pond.

He may not know all the words but he sure looks cute up there!

 Things are really changing around here . . .

1) Weather - seriously, three seasons worth of weather in five days?  Windows open with ceiling fans on to hats and mittens!

It's amazing what you can find buried in gravel!

2) She waited patiently for six weeks and finally got to change her earrings!

3) You're welcome for me not taking a picture of this next one: Henry is out of Pull-ups!  He's woken up dry every morning for months but I couldn't bring myself to put his sheets in constant peril.  I finally cut the cord and it's all undies for the Wonkas!

4) The first seven weeks were filled with set-backs and frustration but we're rolling now!  Or maybe I should say, "We're walking now!"

Dec. 12 = Tendon repair surgery

Jan. 2 = Expected weight-bearing

Jan. 31 = Actual weight-bearing (yes, there was champagne!)

Feb. 4 = Scooter returned

Feb. 5 = Introduction of tennis shoe part-time
