Thursday ("Birthday Eve"): Mom & Lexi head to Toys R Us to pick out a new (much bigger!), non-princess bike. We warned her that we'd have to pick it up in a day or two after they assembled it but the manager took pity on her (it was her birthday eve, after all!) and let her take one off the rack!
Friday (The Big Day!): After some 8am bike riding, we spent the day getting ready for her birthday party. Seven girls were to descend on our house at 6pm for our first-ever multi-girl sleepover! Swimming at the neighborhood pool, pizza, homemade ice cream sandwiches, movie/popcorn, and bed . . . how hard can it be, right?! We only had five guests make it through the night and Mom won't be ready for another big sleepover until July 20, 2013, but Lexi loved every minute of it!
Saturday (Hang in for one more day, Mom!): The sleepover gals were up with the sun (wait, is the sun even up at 6:15?!) and Lexi had one more day of birthday left in her! Our awesome neighbors helped us pull off one last surprise! Maddy & Ava occupied Lexi while Frank & I emptied her bedroom and stripped her walls. Then she transferred to Emma's while Papa set up her new loft bed! She thought she was just enjoying a day of playing and had no idea what was going on!

We finished the celebrations with dinner at Chinese buffet (her choice) for her "family party" where they surprised the birthday girl with a firework candle that plays "Happy Birthday" . . . forever. No, really, it never stops playing it. After ten minutes (and stares from the other patrons), Grandma thanked the waitress for the "lovely" candle. The waitress proudly replied, "It's made in China." Got it. Note to self, don't tell the Chinese buffet it's your birthday . . . they give migraines as gifts!
